Pleasantly surprised at all the options! I am going from a D200 to the D5500. I have not read through the manual yet, hence why I am unable to use a lot of the functions. Many are hidden and you gotta dig for them. BUT i’m LOVING this camera. I took it to an outting today and already (even without having all the settings to my liking) the camera blows my d200 out of the water. the picture is so sharp. Great mid-range DSLR. Amazing body. I changed from a Sony A6000 and yes it might be a little more of a lateral move rather than an upgrade, but it’s nice to have a better selection of native glass. The body itself is very lightweight (almost bought a 7200), and I wish I had more dials/buttons on it, but as a primary landscape and travel photographer, the body weight was more of a priority than dials. Great battery life compared to my old Sony. Overall, great mid-range body that’s light weight and ready for travel.
Good photos, light weight, compatible with the lens I already have. This is a refurbished body and is working well. Took it out for a birding trip and the lighter weight compared to the Nikon D7100 made carrying the camera around all day with a Tamron 18-400mm lens easier. Hand-holding for distance shots was easier also. It has more capabilities than I realized. Many built-in options for any situation for someone who is not as skilled in settings needed under difficult shooting conditions. Take note if purchasing a refurbished unit.
