(Optical Image Stabilization) keeps the image steady at longer focal lengths. HD videos are recorded to separately available SD cards in the MP4 format for easy playback on most devices. MP4 files are also highly compatible with video hosting services and social media websites without format conversion.
Introduced with the HF R800, backlight correction within the Highlight Priority mode for brighter images. The backlight correction analyzes the incoming video signal and recognizes your subject within the frame, and will expose for the subject, rather than an overexposed backlit background. This way if the sun is behind your subject, you can still get a vibrant image.

Great Little Set, Outstanding Camera for the Price 8-21-18I’m reviewing the Vixia HF R800 Camera. I got this camera to start doing my own repair videos on YT. After extensive research, reading reviews, consumer reports, and doing homework, this was the best camera for the cost I across. It’s easy to use, it has the flip view screen which is great for being in front of the camera and still being able to see how the shots are coming along, very few reports of failure or being defective, and uses SD cards I already own. It did come with a 64GB card on top of it. The view screen is touch screen, which I’m not a fan of, because there would be no way around its failure like you could if it were push button. I open electronics up all the time and am able to manipulate or improvise repairs to continue use of broken device. I’m thrifty and hate to buy new all the time. … use this camera for YouTube videos and it works great as long as I am in the shade I use this camera for YouTube videos and it works great as long as I am in the shade. In the sunlight you can not see the screen. Also the zoom is a slide switch instead of two buttons (in & out) so when you zoom, you shake the camera trying to slide the switch with your index finger. Other than that it’s a fine video camera with great resolution.
Good Basic Inexpensive. I have this camera for some time now. I use it on a weekly basis to record sermons. The quality is good overall. I use a pack to record and the audio is great. Without the pack and being about 20 feet away, it does an ok job. Not great. Picture quality is good especially with enough light. At night or if room is not lit then it is a bit tricky, it doesn’t look as great. It’s very compact to carry. It has different functions, I’ve used the manual setting to control the microphone but it has its drawbacks. It doesn’t a whole lot of features, besides some settings that doesn’t affect recording.
