A Great Little Camera At This Price Point Length:: 0:32 Mins Hi folks…This is my review for the Apeman A80 Action Cam – 2018 model (This year/model has the orange mode button on the front).This is a superb little camera for the price. It is worthwhile noting that the image quality is not GoPro quality, but to be fair, you are paying nowhere near GoPro prices so it is unfair to try and hold it to that standard. At this price point the image quality is more than reasonable.To give an example of the image quality I have attached to this review a quick 30sec video I took of us Hot Air Ballooning with friends. The camera was mounted using only the accessories included in the kit. It is shot in 1080p30 (FHD), Timelpase (the entire 1.5hr flight is compressed into 5 mins) and the footage, apart from the addition of a couple of titles and a soundtrack, has not been edited or enhanced in post production. (Hopefully uploading to Amazon hasn’t reduced the image quality too…
Revised review after two weeks heavy use This is a very good camera for some things (including what I use it for) but not for others. Caveat Emptor.Pros:- I used this for underwater videos and stills in clear water. All images were clear and the color balance (unavoidable wash-out with depth) could easily be corrected on the computer. I never shot videos over about two minutes and for this it worked perfectly especially for the price, thus the five-star review. It’s not a DSLR in a housing but it’s also under $100!- A couple of times I wanted to shoot videos on land and I found that when the camera wasn’t in the case, the audio quality was better than I expected. A pleasant surprise.- The camera uses (I think) the same Sony 12 MP camera module used in drones. So don’t bother with the 20 MP setting, which is interpolated. Also don’t bother with the 4K video setting. 12 MP and 1080i both look good.- The case seals well and the latch works easily. I think maybe the people who had trouble with the…
Great camera for the price! I took the Apeman to the Florida Keys specifically to practice photography while SCUBA diving. These pictures are from a fairly shallow dive 40- 50 ft. I used an underwater diving rig to mount the camera and 2 LED lights. The clarity is good and in diving mode the color is not bad. I did enhance these photos after I got home but the originals weren’t too far off. For the price it’s a great little underwater camera. I got everything I needed to take these photos for $200. I think that was a good investment. It’s also really easy to use. The instructions are simple and there are plenty of options in the menu.
