Greatly benefitting this lens’ reach is the incorporation of image stabilization, which works to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 shutter speed steps to support handheld use in low-light conditions. An STM stepping focus motor is also integrated into the lens’ design to provide smooth, quiet, and fast focusing performance that is ideally-suited to video applications as well as tracking moving subjects. The rear focusing system, high-speed CPU, and an enhanced AF algorithm also contribute to quickened overall AF speeds. Full-time manual focus is also supported to permit fine-tuning of focus even while working in AF modes. Additionally, the front lens section does not rotate during focusing to better facilitate the use of polarizing filters..

Brand new, works great This lens comes in the same box as you would find it for sale in Best Buy for $299.00. Plus you get many extras (it all comes packaged as a kit), all for far less cost. Mine came fully functional and the lens cover fits correctly, as do the extra filters. All in all, a real bargain.
Overall, a very good value This package is a very good deal! My bundle did not come with the lens hood, but they shipped me one later. This lens is extremely versatile, but it is not very good for low light, which is not surprising given the specs. Overall, a very good value
The “is” in the title means “Image Stabilization” and should have been capitalized. I was confused by that, at first, reading it as the word “is” and not I.S. Besides that, this a a super lens for my crop sensor Canon, and has been giving me some wonderful images.
