Not great with TC 1.4 III Bought this hoping for 1050mm on D500. Already have 200-500 and others. Too new to have any reviews of 500pf with TC 1.4 III. Consider this the first one. Doesn’t play well with TC, same as 200-500. Sharpness is good to excellent without TC, but with is obviously less clear. Maybe the 600 pf will do it when it comes out? My credentials; over 130 images published in last 4 years, published 7 landscapes books, many awards and pieces in Museums. Considered one of the best Landscape and Wildlife…
Amazing Lens Astonishing IQ from this lens when shooting at max aperture. And amazing that Nikon got 500mm into such a small package. There’s nothing like it for shooting birds in flight. Highly recommended.
Nikon’s most sensible and thoughtful 500mm supertelephoto to date! I purchased the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E VR lens a couple years ago to achieve that 500mm focal length on my full-frame Nikon D750. I still love that lens for it’s superb optical rendition wide open given it’s price point, and the way it complements my f/4G VR trio of lenses from 16-200mm, but this new 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR is a whole different beast entirely.First off, the most astonishing thing about this lens when you first take it out of the box will be its size and weight…
