If you want to know why you should spend more money on a quality system, then buy this one and find out. Garbage. I hooked the system up on my floor first, to test it out with one camera. Seemed fine at first, the video feed cut out a couple times, figured it was because I was moving it around. Then I install three of the cameras onto the exterior of my home, run all the cables, get it hooked up and it seems to be working. Then, one camera goes out, and comes back on, then all three loose feed, and come back on. Now I have only two working cameras, and they both cut out after about 15 seconds, come back on then cut out again.I have an adapter for the DVR, and one used for the splitter to power the cameras, I swapped them out and still have the problem. I power cycled the DVR, still have the problem. I traced the cables to make sure they are not pinched, or have a staple thru the cable, found nothing. I even reset my DVR and the issue is still there.I knew I should have spent more money on a quality name brand. I’m sure 6/10 of these systems work flawlessly, but…
Glitchy and unreliable Cameras glitched when we needed them most. Yesterday a man tried to break in with a knife. Luckily first responders got here in less than 5 min. I went back to try to get the footage and the cameras didn’t record him trying to break in. It skipped from 3pm to 4:40pm. All that time in between is lost. Thankfully we are all safe. The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because when it does record the image is very clearUpdate: The cameras are not even a year old and none of them work now. They all say video loss. Our car got broken into last night when we went to check the cameras the video wasnt even on. The DVR was on “recording”, but none of the 4 cameras are working. I will be investing in 4 more. Definitely not this brand. I will research h better quality ones. If you live in a dangerous neighbor hood DO NOT rely on these to help you.
Great deal! Bought this wired system for my free standing garage, because we don’t have dedicated wifi. Did a temporary test setup in my home since I was skeptical of the quality at such a low price. Didn’t want to put in the effort to do the final install to find out it was a bust. Installed the $35 500 GB Western Digital hard drive that I purchased separately, hooked the DVR up to an old lcd tv via vga, hooked up cameras, powered it up, followed instructions to format the hard drive, set it to record and watched it work. Took 30 minutes and it has been running for a couple of days with no issues. I’ve been able to easily review the recorded content. Camera Day/night feature works great and transitions smoothly as light levels change. I’m now satisfied it really is a great deal and will do final install in the garage next week. Several friends have indicated an interest in purchasing a system for their homes.
