Rocksolid Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch with great feature set – my daily driver for the next coming months Length:: 4:18 Mins Ticwatch is being made by Mobvoi, a chinese manufacturer backed by Google. I recently left the apply OS environment and bought a Pixel 2. That also meant selling my beloved Apple Watch Series 2 and finding a replacement for it.After a lot of research I decided to go with the Ticwatch E. Mobvoi previously had created the Ticwatch 2 which was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and received great reviews. It featured a unique touchbar on the right side of the watch that allowed users to effortlessly scroll through content. Unfortunately, that bar didn’t make it into the Ticwatch E but instead Mobvoi listened to the userfeedback and switched their previously proprietary operating system over to Google’s Android Wear 2.0. This was a great decision, imho, as it allows us users to now install apps from the appstore (like 2 factor authentication apps, for instance). The Ticwatch E comes with a 1.2Ghz dual core processor from…
Faulty Hardware On Arrival When I received my Ticwatch E, setup went fine and everything seemed as it should be. Within a few hours, though, I noticed that the display wasn’t turning off when the watch was covered or put in my pocket. Follow-up with Mobvoi ultimately led to the conclusion that the proximity sensor wasn’t working. After reading a few forums (even Mobvoi’s own forum) I wasn’t actually even sure the watch had a proximity sensor – as many people seem to be seeing the same behavior. Mobvoi support insists that it does and that it must be returned for warranty repair. On a bit more follow-up, I ran ADB to check the watches capabilities, and, as you can see in the attached screenshot, ADB does not find a proximity sensor in the watch. Support continues to insist that there is one. While on Mobvoi’s forum, I went ahead and signed up and posted an inquiry of my own. The system indicated that the post must be approved by a moderator before it would actually post. The moderator has…
I own 6 Android Watches….this Ticwatch E is a DEAL!! I’m not too sure how people can complain so fast about a product without THOROUGHLY TESTING it through 3-5 charge cycles to condition the battery. I own 6 Android Wear watches and I can tell you with certainty that an Android Wear 2.0 watch at THIS price (with GPS) is a steal!! The watch feels nice and lightweight, probably the lightest android wear watch that I own so far. I purchased this watch solely for exercise and gym use and so far it works great! Android Wear 2.0 is a major upgrade from the previous version, you can make calls, listen to music and operate applications WITHOUT using your cell phone. Here are some highlights of the watch belowPROS+ Very lightweight, perfect for exercising (GPS is fairly accurate for jogging)!+It has a speaker for making phone calls (Voice quality is decent)+ Battery life is on par with most of my android wear devices (I charge once every 2 days)+Screen looks great, much smoother to navigate than my Zenwatch…
