Unbelievable lens for the price! I purchased this lens after several hours of research. It seems to always boil down to the Sigma and Tamron. This time however, the reviews gave the Sigma the edge, so I bought it and couldn’t be happier. I’ve been a photographer for 40 years, and my everyday equipment is Nikon, and very expensive. I wanted a lens that 1… didn’t cost $7000 and 2…. wouldn’t be used every day. (I mean, how often does the average person use a 600mm lens?) I do shoot a lot of bird photos however, so I thought I’d give this a try. I’m both impressed and surprised. The lens is fast focusing, and the resulting images are wonderful, especially for a lens that costs so little compared to the name brands. The bells and whistles included in the lens are very well thought out and useful. Incredible lens, incredible value, incredible pictures I bought this lens after doing a reasonable amount of research specifically for a safari trip I was taking to Kenya. The reason that I selected it was the value for money it offered and the good reviews from others. I have been incredibly happy with it. This is not an everyday lens, to be sure, and hence I had not had much time to get used to it prior to arriving in Kenya. It does take some practice, but oh my are the pictures incredible that you can get with it. The reach (especially on an APS-C crop sensor camera) is fantastic and the image stabilization system works like a charm. Sweet. This is my second Sigma lens the first … First, let me say that I’m a serious hobbyist, shooting nature and wildlife. I did lot of research on the this lens type and chose the Sigma. I use a Nikon D7100 and wanted to be able to get the long shots with a lens that would work with the 7100. Well after a couple of weeks of shooting, one word comes to mind:Sweet.
