No write cache with Synology! Due to some issue with this drive and Synology, Synology does not enable a write cache for it. That’s pretty messed up for a drive that’s built for NAS usage and for the partnership that Synology and Seagate claim to have. Search for ST10000VN0004-1ZD101 and write cache in google and you’ll see the issue. It seems like the newer 10 TB model ST10000VN0008 does not have this issue. Not 7200 RPM! Product title flawed. Title line says explicitly 4TB 7200 RPM. I noted a drive going down on my Drobo and ordered on Sunday; Amazon had it at my door before I left for work Monday am, so that was amazing… but that also led me to quickly insert it to start rebuild before I left for work. It estimated 10 hours so it would be done by the time I got home. Now home it claims 4 hours left and Drobo says it is really 5800 RPM. Out of Spec mount points This drive is missing standard screw mount points and will not fit into some drive sleds.
